SAY NO! To A BESS in Wheatland, WI
Robin Energy and CIP proposed a Lithium Battery Energy Storage System Project (BESS) to the Town of Wheatland, WI at the end of 2025. A zoning request failed, forcing Robin Energy to withdraw their proposal, but threatened : "The Company remains committed to delivering factual information in response to community concerns. We intend to continue bringing this beneficial Project forward and will be exploring all paths to do so. " We will not stop in our quest to SAY NO! to battery storage in Wheatland, WI.
Robin Energy's own proposal states: “failure of the safety systems to mitigate a thermal runaway event could cause a large-scale fire or explosion”. In addition Robin Energy's chosen engineering company, cannot tell us what the impact of smoke would be on the Town of Wheatland as that research is “ongoing”
An incident with a BESS system may cause water run-off, which could contain corrosive hydrofluoric acid and heavy metals. Residents of the Town of Wheatland rely on their wells for water. Will a BESS owner be able to GUARANTEE our water is safe?
The Town of Wheatland is a rural community with farmland and schools very near the originally proposed site. An industrial park does not fit against this backdrop.
A portion of the Agriculture-A1 zoned site Robin Energy would like to use for their battery energy storage system, contains a wetland. This is in direct violation of the Kenosha BESS ordinance, which states: "Shall not be located within a designated wetland "
